I have been having a problem with the way white color was displayed by some programs on my Windows Vista PC. Some programs such as Windows Gallery and Adobe Photoshop would show the white color with a yellowish tint. The same photo or image viewed in IE for example would have the correct white color.
After much searching I found a fix to this problem.
STEP #1: On your windows PC, right click on the background and click on “Personalize” sub menu
STEP #2: In the resulting window that opens up, click on “Display Settings” sub menu
STEP #3: Once the display settings options windows open, click on “Advanced Settings” button
STEP #4: Once the Advanced settings options window opens, under the “Color Management” tab, click on “Color Management” button
STEP #5: In the Color Management window that open up,click on the “Add” button found at the bottom of the profiles section
STEP #6: In the resulting window that opens up, under the “ICC Profiles” section, select the option “sRGB IEC61966-2.1″ option and click “OK” button. This ensures that the system color calibration is set up for the monitor you are using rather than the system specific calibration that was added to the profile during monitor installation
STEP #7: Back in the Color Management windows, click on the “Set as Default Profile” button and finally click on “Close” button. Depending on your machine, you might have to reboot the system. On my DELL VOSTRO 400 business computer system, I did not have to reboot. The color change was apparent straight away as I opened a photo with a white background in Adobe Photoshop CS3
