What Ever Happened to the Girl Next Door?

Remember sweet little Britney Spears? Yeah, we know, she wasn’t that innocent, but she also wasn’t in the spotlight like she is today.

Things are so bad that her dad, Jamie, has been given temporary control of Spears’ legal and financial affairs, as well as the power to fire her business manager (manager Howard Grossman refuses to say if he had been fired).

Spears was admitted to the psychiatric ward of a Los Angeles hospital on January 31, but recently left, against her parents’ wishes.

Her mother, Lynne, also recently obtained a restraining order against Sam Lutfi, Spears’ frequent companion/manager.

Everything seemed to go downhill since Spears filed for divorce from Kevin Federline, with whom she has two children, in 2006. From bizarre public behavior, to erratic driving, to public breakdowns, Spears has been spiraling and has also lost custody and visitation rights to her two sons.

The lawyers representing Spears in her child custody battle with Federline have even filed papers in Los Angeles Superior Court asking to leave the case.
