Three Comedies, One Drama Hit the Big Screen Today

Jack BlackThis appears to be the week of the comedies, as three of them open in wide release today, with one lone drama in the mix for good measure.

Funnyman Jack Black is back on the big screen in Be Kind Rewind, a film about two guys who re-enact and re-film every movie in their local video store. The film also starts Mos Def, Mia Farrow and Danny Glover.

Youngster Anton Yelchin leads the cast in Charlie Bartlett, a film about a rich kid who becomes the self-appointed underground psychiatrist to the student body at his new public school. This film also starts Hope Davis, Robert Downey Jr. and Kat Dennings.

The third comedy, Witness Protection, stars Larry the Cable Guy as a small-town sheriff who gets caught up protecting the key witness (Jenny McCarthy) in a crime case. This film also stars Ivana Milicevic and Joe Mantegna.

Rounding out the new releases this week is drama/thriller Vantage Point, in which eight strangers with eight different points of view try to unlock the truth behind an assassination attempt on the President. This film stars Matthew Fox, Dennis Quaid, Sigourney Weaver, Forest Whitaker, William Hurt, Edgar Ramirez and Zoe Saldana.
