Switch from PC to MAC
Yes, finally the inevitable time has come. I have decided to switch from my home office PC (a DELL VOSTRO 400) to an iMac!
After much deliberation and thought, I have decided to make the switch from my PC to MAC. There are several reasons and factors that have prompted me to make the switch, especially with the new business model that I have implemented recently, I am increasingly working more from home. This means that work and play would both co-exist on my work machine. I also collaborate with my teams via Skype and video conferences etc.
Also I have been thinking for a long time to make the switch for the simple reason of not having to deal with crashes, viruses and sluggishness of my DELL.
Any one else made a switch recently from a PC to a MAC. Specifically the iMac. Any tips for me? Any issues in terms of running your online business on an iMac?
UPDATE (11th July 6:17PM): I have made the switch! I got my iMac this afternoon, have unpacked and set it up and am already playing around with it! I am on cloud nine! I will posting separately about the unpacking and install tomorrow.

I, too, made the switch (3 years ago) and have NO plans on returning. As for tips, there are LOTS out there for virtually everything imaginable, so it would help if you could be a little more specific as to what you’re looking for.
Since you’ll be running your business from your iMac, the most important first-step is to get an external hard drive and set it up to be used with Time Machine. It works like a charm and has saved my hide more than once.

Greg,
Thank you for your response. Yes, I should have been more specific.
Actually when I said I was looking for tips, it was more about weather it was smart to make the switch or not etc. I mean I am looking for confirmations such as the one your posted to give me the confidence to make the switch.
My appointment with the Apple store booked for tomorrow and I am getting nervous by the minute.
Thanks,
Mash

Mash,
Try not to be nervous. The people at the Apple Store deal with ’switchers’ every day, so they know how to address just about any issue you may have, whether it’s real or perceived.
As for whether or not it was a good move, only you will be able to answer that. But if your main reason for switching is truly to rid your life of “crashes, viruses and sluggishness”, you nailed it. As an added bonus, you will also be pleasantly surprised by all the other benefits that you’ll discover along the way.
Enjoy!

Greg,
I have made the switch! Yohoo! I have already unpacked my iMac and set it up. I will be posting a video and a follow post tomorrow on the new iMac.
I played around with it for a few minutes today after setting it up and I am already VERY happy!

You know how the saying goes…Once you go mac, you don’ t go…
You will be pleased as I was when I crossed over. 3 years, no crash, no virus, can count the reboots on one hand, and those were for installing apps. Never turned it off yet either. It runs a little hot to the touch, but that is normal.
Best of luck and welcome to the cool side

Thanks for the message Raja! Yes, I am on Cloud 9 at the moment. My business flow and process has also benefited from my switch.
Check my latest post about me possibly getting a MacBook Pro because the motherboard of my HP Pavilion DV 2000 fried this morning due to overheating.
