Jumper Bounces to Number One Over the Weekend

Jumper MovieThe film Jumper had a great run this weekend as the number one film in theaters, collecting $31,700,000 in its first weekend in release. Family film The Spiderwick Chronicles spun its magic on audiences as well, claiming the number two position, as well as $24,466,000 in its first weekend in release. Teen dance drama Step Up 2 the Streets hit number three in its first weekend release, also collecting $21, 516,000.

Rounding out the top five films this past weekend were Fool’s Gold, which slipped from number one in its first weekend in release to number four this weekend, grossing $43,975,000 in the past two weeks, and Definitely, Maybe, which released on Friday and ranked number five, with $11,406,000 in sales over the weekend.

The remainder of the top 10 films in theaters are all veterans, with newest member Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins in its second week in release and ranked sixth; Juno, in its eleventh week and ranked seventh; The Bucket List, in its eighth week and ranked eight; Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour, in its third week and ranked ninth; and 27 Dresses, in its fifth week and ranked tenth.
