Dirty Dancing Star Has Cancer
March 12, 2008
This month, beloved Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze, 55, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.
The National Enquirer was the first media to report the news, when they claimed he had only five weeks to live. Not true, according to the statement from his rep. In a statement, Swayze’s physician Dr. George Fisher said, “Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.”
According to The Enquirer, Swayze has been undergoing treatment at the Stanford University Medical Center.
The outpouring of support from his peers, particularly his costars, including Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost), Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing), and Lea Thompson (Red Dawn) has been steadily streaming in.
After hearing the news, Grey has sent her best wishes for a swift recovery to him, hollywood.com reports, and both Goldberg and Thompson have also offered the actor their support.
