Anne Hathaway to Receive Ally for Equality Award

At this year’s Human Rights Campaign’s Annual Los Angeles Gala, Anne Hathaway is set to receive the Ally for Equality Award.
The Gala, “Thousands of Heroes, One Super Night,” will also feature a VIP cocktail reception and silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind luxury travel, fashion and entertainment items. The event is being held Saturday, March 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Century Plaza Hotel, 2025 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles.
Hathaway starred in Brokeback Mountain and The Devil Wears Prada, and she is set to star in the upcoming Get Smart movie. She will be awarded the Ally for Equality for her outspoken support of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community.
In addition, the Food Network’s “Iron Chef America” culinary star Cat Cora will be awarded the Hero for Visibility Award; Bravo Cable Television Network will receive the Corporate Visibility Award; Andrea Myerson, founder of the lesbian social network “Women on a Roll”, will receive the Local Hero Award; The Point Foundation, a national GLBT Scholarship Fund, will receive the Community Service Award; and high school student Melissa Crutcher, who organized the overwhelmingly successful tribute honoring her friend and hate crime victim Lawrence King, will be the Recipient of the Hero Courage Award.
Presenters include Emmy-nominated actor Neil Patrick Harris; actress and talk show host Ricki Lake; Emmy-award-winning actress Judith Light; actor and Human Rights Campaign’s National Coming Out Day Spokesperson George Takei; former NBA basketball player and Human Rights Campaign’s National Coming Out Day Spokesperson John Amaechi; winner of Bravo’s Season 4 “Project Runway” Christian Siriano; designer from Bravo’s Season 2 “Project Runway” Nick Verreos; and trainer from Bravo’s “Workout” Jesse Brune. Joe Solmonese, President of the Human Rights Campaign, is the featured speaker, and the keynote address will be delivered by United States Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR).
